Dive sites around Qala
Ħondoq Reef
Hondoq, Gozo
The rocky ground on the eastern side of Ħondoq bay, where boulders and low arches break up the seagrass and a water pipeline heads off toward Comino. Twelve metres at its deepest and endlessly rummageable.
Qala Quarry
Qala, Gozo
A gentle boat dive on Gozo's east coast where a boulder-strewn reef slides from six metres down to thirty-five, with a handful of enormous old anchors lying among the rocks.
Ras il-Qala
Qala, Gozo
The easternmost point of Gozo, dived from a boat. A rocky shoreline gives way to a drop-off at around ten metres, then a boulder-littered sandy slope, all in very clear channel water.
Ġebel tal-Ħalfa
Qala, Gozo
A low limestone islet sitting about 65 m off the Qala coast, on the Gozo side of the North Comino Channel. It is snorkelled and freedived constantly and dived with a tank almost never, so treat any dive here as your own exploration.
Tac-Cawla Rocks
Qala, Gozo
A shallow rock and tunnel on the Mgarr side of Gozo, ten metres at most, pretty in the right light and barely written about. Good snorkelling territory as much as a dive.
