Safety first, always
- Conditions scores come from a marine weather model, not from someone standing at the entry. The sea can be nothing like the forecast. Look before you leap.
- Depths, positions and seabed sketches are approximate. Do your own planning, carry your own tables or computer, and dive within your training.
- Never dive alone. Tell someone your plan and expected time out. Sharing a plan in this app is not a substitute for that.
- Some sites are war graves or protected heritage that need a Heritage Malta permit and a licensed centre. We say so on the site page. Respect it.
- Emergency in Malta: call 112. Hyperbaric unit at Mater Dei Hospital.
Credits and data
- Wave forecasts: generated using E.U. Copernicus Marine Service Information, the Mediterranean Sea Waves Analysis and Forecast (MEDSEA_ANALYSISFORECAST_WAV_006_017), blended with Météo-France's MFWAM.
- Wind and weather: ICON-2I (ItaliaMeteo / ARPAE), ICON-EU (DWD), ECMWF IFS, UKMO and Météo-France ARPEGE, blended; waves also draw on DWD EWAM and ECMWF WAM. All model data reaches us through Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0) except the Copernicus field, which we read directly.
- Live coastal wind: the PORTO weather stations of the Oceanography Malta Research Group, University of Malta, and Malta International Airport's METAR via aviationweather.gov. Each site page names the station it leans on.
- Map tiles: OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Site classifications (interest, popularity, depth, level, shore access) follow the categories used across Maltese dive guides. Descriptions, history, access notes, seabed sketches and marine life are our own research and writing, with sources listed on each site page.
- Icons by Lucide. Type by Baloo 2 and Nunito, both of which carry the Maltese alphabet.
